Body Diversity (body positive)

Body Diversity (body positive)

Body diversity is a fact of life. We come in all different shapes and sizes. In a weight obsessed society we receive a lot of influence regarding beauty standards and prejudice towards those who don’t match it. The medical industry reinforces prejudice when they over-attribute symptoms to weight or offer patronizing comments about weight. Even loving parents can instill negative beliefs about how weight impacts worth.

There are many different reasons an individual may have statistically high or low body weight, but it’s not inherently a bad thing. If you’re in need of a space to talk about body image or body judgement from others, I’m here to listen and offer support. We can also explore reasons why disordered eating has developed and how psychological patterns are interacting with food. I also encourage clients to consider how people in their life talk about weight, and begin to identify toxic beliefs about bodies.
